Juventus, Milan, and Lazio Monitoring Udinese Star | OneFootball

Udinese bought out Nicolò Zaniolo following his bounce-back season, ending a long series of loan spells. However, he’s not a lock to stay because of some issues with his salary. Lazio, Milan, and Juventus are closely watching the situation, Calciomercato reports.

The attacker was making €3M while he was under contract with Galatasaray. He agreed to a pay cut down to €1.8M annually because the move back the Friulani came together very late last summer. There was no time to haggle on his personal terms.

Zaniolo would like to be rewarded for his strong campaign, as he tallied five goals and five assists, and get closer to his previous level. The parties are about €500/600k apart at this stage, with a decisive meeting looming.

In the meantime, other teams have started circling around the Italian forward. Lazio have shown the most interest so far. Instead, he could be a fallback option for Milan and Juventus, should they miss out on their main targets.

The Rossoneri could go through a fairly large overhaul. The Old Lady is focusing on Brahim Diaz at the moment, but they haven’t found an opening. His price tag could be around €15M if he and his camp didn’t mend fences with Udinese.

Our Take on Zaniolo

It’d be a little ironic if things soured quickly after he finally found a new home after so many temporary sojourns. The Rome derbies would be quite the spectacle if he really joined the Biancocelesti. He was excellent as a second striker in the last campaign, while Milan and Juventus need either wingers or attacking midfielders with slightly different traits. He’d be a nice gamble at a low price for a few bigger sides, though.
