Juventus ‘to offer’ prospect in Jhon Lucumi pursuit amid Sunderland interest

Sunderland are closing in on their first summer signing, with Thomas Meunier on Wearside for a medical, while interest around Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi gathers pace.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Juventus remain keen on the Colombia international and could offer a young player in part-exchange to reduce the fee.

Sunderland were linked with Lucumi a year ago before switching focus to a move that brought Getafe defender Omar Alderete.

Lucumi, 28, is into the final 12 months of his Bologna contract, which includes a reported 28m release clause. He made 43 appearances in all competitions last season.

Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have also been linked with the centre-back. Lucumi will now return to his club to prepare for the new Serie A season with Bologna.
