Sporting director Sebastian Kehl on the balance of play:“The two teams played an outstanding game in the second half. It was end to end, an open game and brilliant for the spectators. I'm actually satisfied with the team's performance overall, even though that may sound a tad strange after the final minutes. We played well, didn't allow them many chances and kept coming back after Juve's goals. We will continue on this path.”
...on the feeling in the Black & Yellow camp after the final whistle:“When you – in inverted commas – ‘lose’ the game in this way in the final two or three minutes, you feel down emotionally. Nonetheless, we will still wake up tomorrow and, of course, we will still have earned a point against Juventus. And in the end – here in this stadium and against this team – that is something that will help us achieve our objectives. But at the same time, I know that three points were definitely possible here. I'll remember this game for a long time, but we'll still take away a lot of positives.”
...on the situation that led to Juventus' third goal:“The ball has to be put out at that moment, and then the situation doesn't come about. Also for the goal that made it 4-4, we could have been smarter. I think we were a little naive in the final minutes and interrupted the game in order to prevent Juventus from getting back into it. It is a bitter realisation to give away what we thought was a certain victory.”
...on the discussion about who would take the penalty:“It was clear that Ramy (Bensebaini) would take the penalty – and he converted it with ice-cold precision. It goes without saying that Serhou (Guirassy) also wants to score as a striker. It's the Champions League, and he's a very ambitious player. Serhou played a key role in our success in the Champions League last year with an incredible number of goals. And the two still get along well. Ultimately, the shot ended up in the net and that was the decisive factor. It wasn't an issue after the game either, so that's the end of the matter.”Transcribed by Boris Rupert
