Kolo Muani Switch to Juventus Held Up by a Technicality

Randal Kolo Muani took the medicals and put pen to paper with Juventus a few days ago, but his transfer hasn’t been finalized yet. There aren’t issues between the two sides, but it hasn’t happened because PSG have filled their six slots for the loans, Corriere della Sera informs.

Ligue 1 implemented the restrictions a lot sooner than Serie A, which will have them starting from next summer. FIFA introduced them in 2022. The French side has already sent out six over-21 players on temporary spells: Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele, Carlos Soler, Juan Bernat, Xavi Simons, and Lucas Lavallée.

Despite the hiccup, the Kolo Muani move to Juventus isn’t in jeopardy. The formula won’t change, as the Bianconeri won’t acquire him outright during the January window. It’ll be up to PSG to find a solution. It should occur in time for Saturday’s clash with Napoli.

The newcomer would have likely gotten minutes, or perhaps even started, versus Milan given Dusan Vlahovic’s lack of fitness. The Serb made just a short appearance due to muscle fatigue. Director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta stressed that it was just a matter of time and bureaucracy.

Juventus will have to wait for PSG to either sell or recall one of their loanes to be able to formally sign Kolo Muani. Lavallée is the likeliest candidate. He’s playing at Aubagne in the Championnat National.

The Ligue 1 giants might have misinterpreted the rule before signing off on another deal of this type. They might have thought that Simons didn’t count against the quota because he’s a homegrown player, but age is the only parameter.
