Sunderland goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu has left the club permanently for Ligue two side US Boulogne CO, ending his spell without a senior appearance. According to Sunderland Echo, the 24-year-old is expected to play regular senior football.
Noukeu arrived as a free agent after leaving Stoke City and became a valued member of the Black Cats’ goalkeeping group.
"Blondy has been progressing well and has been a core part of our senior squad," said sporting director Kristjaan Speakman. He added that the move offers the chance to translate that progress into matches, and the club wished him well.
The exit is Sunderland’s fourth departure of the window. Jay Matete has joined MK Dons on a permanent deal, Joe Anderson has moved to Barrow, and Timothee Pembele has joined Ligue one side Le Havre on loan.
Anthony Patterson’s future remains uncertain. Régis Le Bris has said he could leave this month but only if a replacement is secured, while Alex Neil is interested in a reunion at Millwall as they chase promotion to the top tier.
Sunderland have also made their first January signing, bringing in 20-year-old winger Jocelin Ta Bi. He is viewed as one for the future and will not be available against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Speakman calling him a dynamic, predominantly right-sided wide player to be integrated patiently.
