Kuwait’s Qualification Goals: How the Blues clinched their Arab Cup ticket

Kuwait sealed their place in the Arab Cup 2025 after defeating Mauritania 2-0 in the qualifying playoff on Tuesday in Doha.

The victory sends Kuwait into the group stage for the first time since the tournament’s revival having missed the previous edition.

The match played at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium showcased strong start from Kuwait who pressed aggressively from the opening whistle.

Early goals seal the deal

Kuwait struck twice inside the opening 23 minutes:

Mauritania came close only once in the first half when striker Mamadou Sy went one on one with the goalkeeper but Kuwait’s Khaled Al-Rashidi produced superb save to deny him.

Second half control & disallowed goal

Kuwait could have added third in the 50 minute but Eid Al Rasheedi missed golden chance after rounding the goalkeeper and hitting the side netting.

Mauritania thought they had pulled one back but their goal was disallowed for offside in the 56 minute.

Kuwait managed the rest of the match intelligently keeping Mauritania at bay and preserving clean sheet.
