Leeds United took a step towards Premier League safety with a 3-0 win over Wolves as James Justin, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored. The result leaves them nine points above 18th with five matches remaining.

It also delivered back-to-back league wins for the first time this season. “What a time to do it,” said James Justin to Sky Sports.

Farke’s side flew out. Justin’s acrobatic finish broke the deadlock and, one minute 26 seconds later, Okafor ran onto Brenden Aaronson’s pass for 2-0. After the break Wolves rallied, Darlow saved superbly and Adam Armstrong’s strike was ruled offside.

In added time Calvert-Lewin won and converted a penalty to seal the points.

Joe Rodon made a surprise return less than two weeks after ankle ligament damage at West Ham, despite expectations of a May comeback. He got late minutes at 3-0, before Wednesday’s trip to Bournemouth. Whether he features at the Vitality remains to be seen, and none of Justin, Jaka Bijol or Pascal Struijk have done anything to be dropped.

Okafor’s streak continues, his seventh league goal making it five in his last five around a hamstring lay-off. Farke took him off with over 20 minutes left to keep him fresh for Chelsea at Wembley next week.

A first league win at Old Trafford since 1981, then this, feels season defining before Bournemouth and Wembley.
