Kylian Mbappé has never rewatched the 2022 World Cup final

Kylian Mbappé says he has never rewatched France’s 2022 World Cup final defeat to Argentina, preferring to draw a line under it.

In a Sorare video, the France captain looked back on key moments of his career and addressed the Qatar showpiece, which finished 3-3 then 4-2 on penalties against Lionel Messi’s side.

He said he has not returned to the match since, nearly four years later, adding that viewing it could stir painful memories and that it is important to move on.

France had been aiming to follow their 2018 triumph with a historic double, only to fall short in Lusail.

With 10 days until the next World Cup, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July, the Real Madrid forward admitted the shootout made the defeat even harder, describing it as the cruellest finish for players and supporters.
