The two leading candidates for the upcoming Ballon d’Or award are completely in the dark when it comes to the prize’s winner.

That’s according to journalist Helena Condis of COPE, who has on Monday afternoon provided an insight into the situation.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or gala is of course set to take place later today.

The event, scheduled for the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, will see the leading names from across the world of football gather for an evening of glitz and glamour.

The headline accolade up for grabs comes in the form of the ‘Golden Ball’, currently held by Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

The two clear frontrunners for the award come in the form of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, and Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain.

Over recent years, the player set to triumph at the ceremony has regularly been leaked ahead of time.

This time round, though, this has not proven the case.

As per a report from the aforementioned Helena Condis:

‘At this time, neither Lamine Yamal nor Dembélé know who will be the winner of the Ballon d’Or.’
