An insight into the extent of the margin of victory enjoyed by Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé in the Ballon d’Or race has been provided.
This comes amid confirmation that, in the end, the Frenchman’s closest challenger – Lamine Yamal – was not even close when it comes to total votes.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony of course took place this past Monday.
Heading into the evening, two clear frontrunners had long emerged, in the form of the aforementioned Dembélé and Lamine.
Despite a series of reports over the course of the day pointing towards the latter preparing to be crowned, when all was said and done, it was Dembélé who was named world football’s best for the prior 12 months.
And as alluded to above, the race was not exactly a close one, either…
Speaking to the media in Paris in the aftermath of Monday’s gala, France Football’s editor-in-chief Vincent Garcia, in quotes cited by Goal, admitted:
“There was no match. Ousmane won it by a wide margin. On all continents, Ousmane Dembele’s Ballon d’Or is clear and straightforward. It’s a Ballon d’Or that is authoritative for our judges.”
