Barcelona president Joan Laporta shared his vision for the club’s future in the early hours after the election, speaking openly about the team’s direction, the role of club legends, and the lasting bond with Lionel Messi.
In an interview with TV3 (h/t SPORT), Laporta expressed both excitement and determination following his electoral victory, while detailing the ideas that will guide Barcelona during the next five years.
One of the topics that quickly emerged during the conversation was Messi’s connection with the club.
Laporta made it clear that the Argentine legend will always have a place at Barcelona and that the club’s doors remain open for him.
“Leo will remain connected to FC Barcelona in whatever way he chooses.”
He also reiterated that “the doors of Barça are always open to him whenever he wants to continue strengthening and bringing greatness to this institution that is FC Barcelona.”
Although Laporta has already secured victory in the election, it must be noted that he will officially take office on July 1, as required by the club’s statutes.
Until that date, Rafael Yuste will continue performing presidential duties.

Laporta spoke warmly about Yuste during the interview and explained that they will continue working closely together in the coming weeks.
“I would be very happy and proud if Yuste lifts the Champions League trophy, and I’ll be wherever I need to be.
“If Yuste lifts this Champions League trophy, it will be wonderful; he’s like a brother to me, so if he wins La Liga or the Champions League, it would be fabulous.”
Looking back on the previous five years, Laporta defended the work carried out by his administration and highlighted the progress made on one of Barcelona’s most important projects, which is the redevelopment of the club’s stadium.
“I’ve been a priest for 14 years and I believe in miracles, but this is the work of the club’s staff,” he said.
Furthermore, his voice filled with emotion as he spoke of building the new Spotify Camp Nou.
“We’ve already seen it in full operation; we can imagine what it will be like when the third tier and the roof are in place.
“We’ll see it over the course of these five years, sooner rather than later,” he noted.
