Hearts are on the brink of a stunning Scottish Premiership title after a dramatic night across Edinburgh and Lanarkshire left the race set for a final-day showdown.

At a packed and tense Tynecastle, Derek McInnes’ side did everything required with a 3-0 win over Falkirk. Frankie Kent set the tone by heading home from a corner after half an hour, before Cammy Devlin doubled the advantage shortly after with a deflected finish following a loose ball in the box. Blair Spittal then added a touch of quality late on, curling a superb strike into the corner to seal a convincing victory.

For long spells, the atmosphere swung between celebration and anxiety as updates filtered through from Fir Park, where Celtic were facing Motherwell. Hearts’ supporters briefly believed the title was theirs when news of a Celtic setback emerged, sparking celebrations around the ground.

However, late drama elsewhere kept the race alive. Celtic eventually rescued a controversial stoppage-time win via a 99th-minute penalty scored by Kelechi Iheanacho keeping them just a point behind Hearts heading into Saturday’s decisive clash at Celtic Park.

With everything still on the line, Hearts now travel to Glasgow knowing a draw will secure a first league title since 1960, while Celtic must win to retain their crown.
