Lazio striker Taty Castellanos has been forced to postpone his much-anticipated return from injury as he hasn’t fully recovered yet.
The 27-year-old is the club’s ultimate first-choice for the centre-forward role. He has already contributed with two goals and three assists in his first six appearances in Serie A this season. However, he suffered a Grade II muscle injury in his hamstring that has ruled him out of action for the last 45 days or so.
While Maurizio Sarri was hoping to have the Argentine back at his disposal for Sunday’s home fixture against Lecce, Il Messaggero reveals that the player remains unavailable, as he still requires additional time on the sidelines. Therefore, Castellanos should make his return to action against AC Milan, either in the league fixture at San Siro (Nov 29) or the Coppa Italia tie at the Stadio Olimpico (Dec 4).
Therefore, Lazio will continue to rely on Boulaye Dia upfront, even though the Senegalese hasn’t scored a single goal since filling in for his Argentine teammate. The former Salernitana star has only one strike to his name this season, adding the fourth goal after coming off the bench against Hellas Verona on Matchday 2.
On the other hand, Nuno Tavares is ready and raring to go after overcoming his injury. As for Elseid Hysaj, he was rested after suffering a knock in the hip while on international duty, but he should return to training in the coming days. Finally, Matteo Cancellieri is unlikely to resume action before December, although he’s been partially training with his teammates.
