According to Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio have reopened talks over Santi Gimenez, who could depart AC Milan after 18 challenging months.
Gennaro Gattuso wants a striker to lift the Biancocelesti’s output after only 41 goals in 38 Serie A matches last season, and Gimenez is viewed as his dream addition.
The Rome club are aiming for an initial loan with an option to buy at season’s end, while Milan favour an obligation clause, so an agreement remains difficult.
The Mexican, a Cruz Azul academy graduate, had long been tracked by Lazio after his standout spell at Feyenoord, but joined Milan for €30 million in January 2025. He has produced seven goals and six assists in 37 outings.
Milan have since signed Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain, which may have pushed Gimenez down the pecking order. Whether the clubs can settle on a formula, and whether the player accepts a move, remains unclear as Lazio prepare for a testing campaign.
