League One Tips

Wigan Athletic v Huddersfield: Back Wigan to win Match Odds 90 mins @ 2/1

Saturday, 15:00

Huddersfield gained a win at the Accu Stadium on Saturday, one for the column and an important one for Liam Manning as his side have been far from convincing of late and with their dodgy away form, it's time to oppose them.

Wigan look a fair enough price with insurance of the 90 mins on their recent 1-0 win against Luton, and that was a much-improved performance.

Indeed, Wigan were off to a stormer on Saturday - going up 2-1 up at Stockport inside the first 11 minutes, but it fell apart in the second-half with two sent off and two late goals conceded. A refereeing display did not please Gary Caldwell.

That's two displays of encouragement and the Latics have won six of their last nine home league games against Huddersfield Town (D1 L2), with each victory during that time coming via one goal margins.

Mansfield Town v AFC Wimbledon: Back the draw (Match Odds 90) @ 15/8

Saturday, 15:00

Working out Mansfield is impossible. They won five on the spin from Boxing Day, and since, have failed to win in seven with a ton of draws in that run.

That's the way I am going here as both are not exactly tearing up the xG figures. Mansfield's metric at 1.4 and 1.2 for an against is not impressive, neither is Wimbledon's xG away of just 1.11.

The Dons are currently unbeaten across their last three league games against Mansfield Town (W1 D2), already their longest run against the Stags in the Football League after the pair drew the reverse fixture 0-0 in December last year.

Saturday, 15:00

My Luton formula of late is simple - back home and oppose away. Port Vale are bottom but Jon Brady has them scrapping, and Jake Wilshire has failed to win over the Luton massive.

Vale were 1-0 winners against Northampton on Saturday, and a game for stats fans of low quality games. Just 177 completed passes from the Valiants with two shots on target against Northampton's zero. Both were below 1.00 on the xG with Vale getting a 0.39.

This won't be pretty and Luton have lost their six on the road.

League Two Tips

Cambridge United v MK Dons: Back the draw (Match Odds 90) @ 15/8

Saturday, 15:00

MK Dons have won five of their seven league games against Cambridge United (D1 L1), conceding just three goals in total during that time and a tight one could be in store again as the U's boast the best home defence in League Two with just 11 conceded.

This is second against third, and I am having trouble splitting them. Cambridge United are unbeaten in their last 12 home league games (W9 D3), their longest run since a 16-game streak between 1998 and 1999. Indeed, only leaders Bromley (0) have lost fewer home games in League Two this season than Cambridge (1).

Paul Warne's Dons are without a defeat across their last nine games in League Two (W6 D3), keeping a clean sheet in each of the last three - their joint-best run without conceding this season, so I want to back the draw here with the 90 mins insurance.

Barrow v Gillingham: Back Barrow in Match Odds 90 @ 7/4

Saturday, 15:00

Gillingham have lost their last three league games, failing to score in all three - they last lost four in a row without scoring in January 2025, and the goodwill towards Gareth Ainsworth is fading.

They've looked a very average side of late and save for the 2-1 win against Tranmere, it's five defeats from six and a team that simply doesn't look good enough.

Barrow's fight for survival is what we're backing here as they've lost eight of their last nine. Dino Maamria, recently in as the new boss, is still learning about his players and while he has said they need to toughen up, they threw away the points at Fleetwood on Saturday from coasting to conceding twice late on in a 3-2 defeat.

Scoring twice at Fleetwood is at least a positive and their xG and xA numbers are far superior at home than away.

Barnet v Chesterfield: Back Chesterfield to win @ 3/1

Saturday, 15:00

I tipped in this game back in December with BTTS 'Yes' in the first half, and both did. Goals again look on the cards but the Over 2.5 Goals is far too short for me to entertain.

Barnet keep going off at a short price and Chesterfield have only lost four away from home all season, and they look far too big in price at 3s this weekend.

Chesterfield have lost just once across their 10 league games in 2026 (W3 D6), with only leaders Bromley losing fewer matches in League Two since the turn of the year (0) and it's good to see my man Dilan Markanday starting.
