Leeds passed on a reunion for 2025/26, and subsequent loans at Villarreal and Fiorentina were underwhelming.

Ipswich Town have signed Kjell Scherpen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a four-year deal worth around £11m. The 6ft 9ins goalkeeper will become the tallest player in Premier League history and kept 21 clean sheets in 43 outings last season. He said it is a great chance to show his qualities and he is excited after positive talks at the club.

Jordan Henderson has left Brentford by mutual consent amid surprise interest from Chelsea, with new head coach Xabi Alonso targeting added Premier League know-how. The 36-year-old’s two-year contract has been cut short after 12 months and talks with Chelsea are progressing. If he signs, he would join Danny Welbeck, whose switch from Brighton is all but confirmed, signalling a clear policy shift.
