Leeds United loanee Harry Gray missed Rotherham United's 5-0 defeat at Peterborough United with a slight hamstring issue, in what proved to be Matt Hamshaw's final game in charge on Tuesday night.
Gray, 17, has been a regular since joining in January for the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, making 12 appearances and logging more than 1,000 senior minutes.
The striker has scored two goals during the spell, with Leeds sending him out to gain substantial first-team experience in League One.
On Wednesday morning Rotherham confirmed Hamshaw's departure. The club said in a statement that he had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect, adding that while they valued his ties and passion, being six points from safety meant action was necessary and the process to appoint a new manager was under way.
It has not been confirmed whether Gray will remain with the Millers to rehabilitate what is thought to be a minor injury, or return to Thorp Arch. Rotherham visit Lincoln City on Saturday.
