The Irish Independent reports that Leeds United will face Manchester United in a pre-season friendly at Croke Park on Wednesday, 12 August, with a Dublin date following their USA tour.
It would be a second successive summer in the Irish capital for Daniel Farke’s side, who drew 1-1 with AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium last year in front of a vast Leeds following.
Croke Park, the home of Gaelic football, also known as GAA, has not staged a football match since 2009. The 82,300-capacity arena, and the sizeable Irish support for both clubs, could make for a more evenly split crowd.
Leeds’ trip to Ireland would follow an East Coast base in the USA in late July and early August, with fixtures planned against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool.
They are due to play Wrexham at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Saturday, 25 July, then Sunderland at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on Thursday, 30 July, before finishing in Chicago against Liverpool on Sunday, 2 August.
Tickets for those three matches are on sale. Leeds have yet to announce the Dublin friendly and would likely share ticket information at the same time as any confirmation.
