The 27-year-old former Bolton Wanderers favourite made 32 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, but only managed to score three goals and get one assist.

Afolayan was picked up by West Ham United in 2018 after spending just one year at Solihull Moors - who he signed for whilst still at University.

However, the winger found his feet at Bolton and helped the Trotters secure promotion from League Two and was later named the club's Player of the Year for the 21/22 season after scoring 14 goals across all competitions.

Leicester City, West Brom, Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City have apparently made their interest known for Afolayan's services, as per Hayters.

The Foxes could be forced to look for a new winger this window following a report by journalist Alan Myers that Abdul Fatawu is on Premier League side Everton's shortlist.

Meanwhile, West Brom have already lost out on Tottenham's Mikey Moore to Rangers on loan - and the 17-year-old signed a new contract with Spurs on 11th August. BirminghamWorld reported that both the Baggies and Birmingham City held interest in him.

Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City complete the four reportedly interested parties. Rovers still haven't replaced the 13-goal contributions from Tyrhys Dolan in 24/25 and will seemingly need to add some competition for Ryan Hedges.

Swansea are also seemingly on the search for additional wide options, having already signed Zeidane Inoussa earlier on in the window.

St Pauli open to Afolayan exit

Despite scoring nine goals in 23/24 to help fire St Pauli back to the Bundesliga, last season's output would've been somewhat disappointing for both Afolayan and the club.

It's understood that St Pauli are open to allowing Afolayan to leave this summer window if the right offer comes in.

With just one year left on his contract, the German club may look to cash in on him instead of possibly losing him for nothing next year. Afolayan earns approximately €15k-per-week, according to Capology estimates.

It remains uncertain how high the Kiezkicker hirearchy value the winger at, but you'd likely think they'd want to make a profit on the £500k they reportedly bought him for.

Afolayan has never played in the Championship at any point in his career, but his ability to play on both flanks and in the central attacking midfield position, would certainly suggest why he has been the subject of interest from multiple teams in the Championship.

With the transfer window still open until the 1st of September, you'd like to think all four clubs will have the opportunity to table concrete offers if their interest in Afolayan is genuine.
