They might have fallen short at the FIFA Club World Cup, but that hasn’t changed Pierre Sage’s views on Paris Saint-Germain.

The RC Lens manager is preparing his side to face the reigning Ligue 1 champions on Sunday at the Parc des Princes. Even though they were beaten handily by Chelsea (3-0) in the Club World Cup final this past summer, for Sage, Les Parisiens are the team to beat right now.

“I will repeat it, but PSG is for me the best team in the world today,” Sage said on Friday.

The reigning UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 winners are one of two sides in the French top-flight with a 100% record after three matchdays. The other is Sage’s former team, Lyon.

Les Parisiens are the team with the most goals (127) and wins (37) in all competitions among those competing in the top 5 European leagues in 2025. The French champions are unbeaten in their previous nine home matches against Les Sang et Or. Meanwhile, PSG have emerged victorious in five successive Ligue 1 meetings with Lens.

Under Sage, though Lens have also begun the campaign well, winning their last two league fixtures after losing their opener versus Les Gones (1-0). A victory on Sunday would mark the first time the Northern French club has won three straight top-flight affairs since January-February 2024.

Les Sang et Or have points in their previous four league contests away from home dating back to last season.
