Leonardo Jardim criticised Erick Pulgar’s conduct during Flamengo’s meeting with Red Bull Bragantino, stressing the need for greater emotional control.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Flamengo coach said he understands the Chilean’s will to win, but insisted elite level players must manage their emotions.

Pulgar was dismissed after a forceful push on a Red Bull Bragantino opponent early in the second half. He was initially shown a yellow card, then the referee consulted VAR and upgraded it to red. The score was 2-0 at the time.

Jardim added that Pulgar is hot-blooded and knows he must take care, noting the incident harmed the team by hindering a possible reaction. He said the same attention is required from Pulgar or any other player.

Pulgar will now serve an automatic suspension and will miss Flamengo’s meeting with Santos in the 10th round. The match is on Sunday 05 at 17:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
