Leonardo Jardim sets condition for Bap and Boto to take Flamengo job | OneFootball

Leonardo Jardim has told Bap and José Boto his condition for the job, insisting he must be more than a line-up picker at Flamengo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he explained at Ninho do Urubu on Thursday that meetings with José Boto are held daily and that ideas must align. His condition, he said, is to be the coach first and foremost, shaping processes as well as choosing the team.

He described football as a question of fit, with different scenarios to manage, and said he prefers to work when he has an active say, adding he does not believe in a coach limited to selecting the XI.

The remarks signalled his intention to be closely involved in football matters on and off the pitch across the season.

Jardim was unveiled on Wednesday and led his first session with the squad. On Thursday he oversaw training and addressed the media.

With Jardim in place, Flamengo face Fluminense in the Carioca final at the Maracanã on Sunday, kick-off 18:00 Brasília time.
