Lincoln Boss: Not many press Chelsea how we did and it needed 5 mins of quality

Lincoln City manager Micheal Skubala says not many teams press Chelsea like they did and it took five minutes of quality.

He’s right as well. They were so good at pressing Chelsea last night and it caused a lot of issues. And if not for the first five or ten minutes after the first half when Chelsea scored two goals in quick succession, then they would have been facing a hugely embarrassing upset last night.

EXCLUSIVE! Cole Palmer now has NEW injury and will be out for a set time!

In their match review on the official Lincoln website last night, they claimed that they dominated World Champions Chelsea and again, they weren’t wrong with that assessment either. They didn’t dominate possession but in terms of having more chances and playing better, they absolutely did dominate Chelsea.

And Chelsea defender Malo Gusto admitted after the game that he has never seen a team play like Lincoln played last night, and they can only take that as a compliment. If it wasn’t a compliment, then it should have been one.

The Lincoln boss Skubala told The BBC (cited on X):

“Not many teams press Chelsea how we pressed them tonight.

“Huge respect to Enzo because he has brought some big players here. Looking at the players on the pitch towards the end we were still trying to get something. A period of five minutes of quality that they have has hurt us.”

He’s spot on as well

Nothing he has said there is incorrect, he’s spot on. They really did go at Chelsea last night and really tested them. I don’t think they deserved to be the losing team at all, far from it in fact. They were unlucky.
