Over the summer transfer window, Liverpool landed Hugo Ekitike on a deal that was worth up to £79 million with Eintracht Frankfurt, per ESPN. Moreover, the Frenchman recently reflected on his time at PSG, which he believes helped him.

The move comes after Ekitike scored 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga games for Frankfurt last season. He joined Frankfurt in February 2024 from PSG, who are set to receive 20 percent (£13.8 million) of his transfer fee this summer.

Moreover, the move to the Reds is starting to bear fruit as Ekitike was called up to the France national team and now probably has a serious shot at playing the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ekitike made his first appearance for France on Friday in their 2-0 win over Ukraine. With the team now focused on Tuesday’s match against Iceland, the Reims native spoke openly about the difficult period he experienced at PSG between 2022 and 2024, where he found himself competing with Kylian Mbappé.

“Getting in front of a camera and saying that everything went well would be a lie,” Ekitike told Téléfoot (h/t Le10Sport). “But when I look back, I tell myself that maybe it made me stronger. It was a real learning experience for me on every level, and it has made me a more seasoned player today.”
