Inter Milan’s pursuit of Curtis Jones could ultimately be decided by one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer. According to reporting from Italy’s leading sports newspaper, a chain reaction involving Eliot Anderson, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City may provide the breakthrough Inter have been waiting for.
The report suggests that Anderson has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in English football. Nottingham Forest are believed to be demanding around £130 million, a figure equivalent to approximately €150 million, with Manchester City currently leading the race for his signature.
While Curtis Jones remains a priority target for Inter Milan, the Italian giants are currently unable to bridge the gap between their valuation and Liverpool’s asking price. However, movement elsewhere in the market could change that picture rapidly.
The original source, La Gazzetta dello Sport, describes the situation as a transfer market domino effect stretching between Milan, Nottingham and Manchester.

Curtis Jones
At first glance, Eliot Anderson and Curtis Jones appear to have little connection. Yet the proposed transfer chain could make Anderson one of the most important figures in Inter Milan’s summer plans.
The 23-year-old midfielder is attracting intense interest after an impressive campaign with Nottingham Forest. Reports indicate that Manchester City have already seen an offer worth around £120 million rejected, with Forest refusing to lower their valuation.
Should Anderson complete a move to the Premier League champions, Nottingham Forest would not only receive a huge financial windfall but would also need to replace a central midfielder.
That is where Inter Milan enter the equation.
Forest have long been linked with Davide Frattesi and remain interested in securing his services. A substantial fee from Anderson’s departure would strengthen their ability to meet Inter’s valuation and potentially conclude a deal quickly.
For Inter, that sale would create the funds required to intensify negotiations for Curtis Jones.
Curtis Jones continues to be viewed as one of the most technically gifted midfielders available on the market. Despite fierce competition for places at Liverpool, the academy graduate remains highly regarded across Europe.
Inter Milan believe Jones possesses the blend of intelligence, creativity and tactical flexibility required to thrive in Serie A. His ability to operate in deeper midfield positions or further forward makes him an attractive option as the club plans for both immediate success and long-term development.
The obstacle remains financial.
According to the report, Liverpool are seeking around €30 million for Curtis Jones. Inter’s most recent proposal is believed to be closer to €20 million, leaving a significant gap between the two clubs.
A sale of Frattesi to Nottingham Forest could provide the solution. Inter reportedly value the Italian international at around €30 million, meaning a completed transfer would effectively finance a fresh approach for Jones.
Even then, negotiations may not be straightforward. Liverpool are also understood to want a percentage of any future sale, a condition that remains important in discussions surrounding the midfielder’s future.
Liverpool have consistently shown faith in Curtis Jones throughout his development. The midfielder has progressed from academy prospect to first-team contributor and remains a valuable squad member.
However, the reality of elite football is that opportunities emerge when clubs believe a player can become central to their project.
Inter Milan clearly see Jones in that light.
Whether a deal materialises may now depend less on direct talks between Liverpool and Inter and more on developments involving Eliot Anderson and Nottingham Forest. If Anderson secures his anticipated move to Manchester City, the resulting financial ripple effect could eventually reach Merseyside.
For now, Curtis Jones remains a Liverpool player, but Inter Milan will be watching events closely. In a transfer market increasingly driven by interconnected deals, one £150 million move could unlock several others.
The coming weeks may reveal whether Eliot Anderson becomes the catalyst for one of the summer’s most intriguing midfield transfers.
