Liverpool send statement to Premier League: He's finally HERE

Watch out Premier League - Liverpool's saviour is finally here. And he's going to change everything.

Liverpool spent an awful amount of money in the summer. A record amount, in fact, as they looked to transform and improve on a title-winning squad.

Over £400m went out on new signings. They twice broke their transfer record with nine-figure arrivals. Record amounts were spent on each full-back position.

Liverpool, though, haven't had the results they wanted. That's partly because few of the signings have replicated their form before arriving at Anfield and partly because the squad just doesn't seem to fit together.

You can hardly blame the new signings, after all, when even the players who won the title last season are under-performing. But that's the reality at Liverpool right now - very few stars are actually shining.

However, that might be changing. The rest of the Premier League are surviving on the fact that Liverpool aren't fulfilling their outrageous potential - but one player is ready to change that.

Florian Wirtz is here

Florian Wirtz arrived at Liverpool with incredible hype. After all, he's been one of the world's best players over the last few years and hasn't actually yet turned 23.

10 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga last season, 11 goals and 11 assists the season before - the only other player across Europe's 'top five' leagues to have double-digits in both categories over the last two campaigns is Mo Salah. That's the level of player Liverpool hoped to have signed.

Only, Wirtz didn't really hit the ground running. At all. The first few months of Wirtz have actually been quite disappointing and his lack of decisive performances has hamstrung Liverpool dramatically.

But that's changed. The German has come alive in recent weeks and things appear to have clicked - and let that be a warning to the rest of the Premier League.

Wirtz was a force against Wolves, for instance. He scored what was ultimately the winner, created three chances (match-high) and completed a ridiculous 7/8 dribbles.

No one else in the match even attempted more than three.

It was a similar story against Tottenham Hotspur. Wirtz assisted the opener, created the joint-most chances (2) and completed 4/5 dribbles (no one else attempted more than two).

It's the pattern Liverpool want to see. Wirtz, after all, is all about providing decisive moments, creating chances, and beating players one-v-one.

He's now doing it. This is why Liverpool paid all of that money and the German is finding ways to deliver results for the club.

These are proper statements to the Premier League. The Reds are probably out of the title race after their poor run - 10 points feels impossible to gain on Arsenal - but anyone hoping their signings hadn't worked out can give up.

Wirtz appears to have arrived.
