Ghana head coach Otto Addo has said that Antoine Semenyo is ready to take the next step in his career and move away from Bournemouth.
Addo spoke about Semenyo’s future after Friday’s World Cup draw, which pitched Ghana into Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
He told The Athletic: “He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they ‘re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step?”
Semenyo has earned rave reviews with his performances in the Premier League since joining the Cherries in January 2023.
He has impressed this season, bagging six goals and three assists in 13 top-flight appearances.
The 25-year-old is contracted with Bournemouth until 2030, but the club are powerless to stop him from leaving due to a £65 million release clause in his deal.
Semenyo has many admirers in the Premier League, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all linked with him.
Liverpool have an advantage in the race for the Ghana international due to sporting director Richard Hughes.
He signed Semenyo for Bournemouth during his spell at the Vitality Stadium, and could now look to bring him to Anfield.
However, Liverpool spent £450m on new players last summer, and they will be reluctant to pay another premium fee for a forward. -Their main priority lies in defence and midfield.
City need to bolster their full-back options in January, which leaves Tottenham as Semenyo’s most likely destination.
