Luis García Plaza link as Sevilla ‘make contact’ with Rubén Duarte | OneFootball

Sevilla are assessing defensive reinforcements, with Rubén Duarte emerging as an option tied to Luis García Plaza, while outgoings remain the immediate priority.

Zona Mixta reports that Sevilla have opened initial contact with the 30-year-old, who plays for Pumas UNAM in Mexico. He is in the final year of his contract and would welcome a return to LaLiga.

After previously floating former Alavés player Jon Guridi, García Plaza again provides the reference point. Duarte captained Alavés under him and can operate at left-back or centre-back.

For now, sporting director José Ignacio Navarro must accelerate departures to reduce the wage bill and raise funds before committing to new signings.

Tanguy Nianzou is in France seeking to finalise a contract termination ahead of a move to LOSC Lille. Rafa Mir and the club are working towards a definitive parting after a series of unproductive loans.
