Luis Palma has admitted that he is hoping to return to Celtic this summer. The Honduran midfielder is currently on loan at Lech Poznan in Poland but he is hopeful that he can return to Celtic Park after a period away from the club on loan.
Signed during the infamous summer of 2023 as the replacement for Jota, Palma made 48 appearances for Celtic before a loan to Olympiacos was followed by the switch to Poznan.
Speaking to TNH via Alvaro La Rocha Palma said that he enjoyed his time at Celtic and would like to make an impact if he is able to return.
“At Celtic I had a great time, I enjoyed it a lot.
“I want to have a second chance, I have a contract with them, I’m still part of the club and if they say I have to return, I’ll do it in the best way possible.”
“My dream is to return to a high-performance league; for me, the Scottish league was a high-performance one.
“I got to play what every player wants to play, which was the Champions League—that dream hasn’t died yet. I want to feel that sensation again of playing one of those matches.”
Palma scored 10 and assisted 10 in his time at Celtic, he appears to have replicated this form with Poznan, scoring 7 and assisting 8 in 39 appearances. He is definitely a player with quality but perhaps he doesn’t have the pace to play out wide and instead is more of a No.10.
Celtic require a reset in the summer and a new manager will be in situ to consider the squad as a whole, offering players like Palma the chance to stake a claim for a place in the new regime. It is a positive sign that the player is eager to return, especially given the fact that there are a number of players that are likely eager to go the other way. Celtic requires to have players that are on an upward trajectory and Palma, despite failing to realise his potential thus far, has shown that he has qualities there that could help the team.
