Luka Elsner has been sacked as manager of Stade de Reims, following Sunday’s defeat to FC Nantes, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Elsner joined Reims over the summer, making the move from Le Havre AC. Despite a good start to life with Les Stadistes, results have dipped in recent weeks and they are winless in their last nine games in Ligue 1. Following their fifth defeat at home this season, against relegation strugglers Nantes (2-1), Reims’ hierarchy have pulled the plug.
Under contract until 2026, Elsner has been sacked this morning, as per L’Équipe. He leaves Reims 13th in Ligue 1. Just as it was when Will Still left towards the end of last season, Samba Diawara will take charge on an interim basis. However, unlike last time, when he managed just three games, it is expected that Diawara will take charge until the end of the current campaign.
