Lyon's Malick Fofana has minor procedure in recovery | OneFootball

Lyon said in a statement on Monday that Malick Fofana, 20, the former La Gantoise player, has undergone a minor surgical procedure as part of his recovery.

The Belgian sustained a serious right ankle injury last October that sidelined him for nearly five months. He returned around 10 days ago as a substitute in a 2-0 Europa League defeat at Celta Vigo.

The intervention formed part of his rehabilitation and removed equipment inserted during his original operation.

No return date has been set. Even so, the Aalst-born player’s availability is keenly anticipated by supporters, who are eyeing a top-four finish and a Champions League return, a competition OL have not played in since 2019-20.

Paulo Fonseca’s side are fourth in Ligue 1, two points behind third-placed Olympique de Marseille. They remain within striking distance of Lille OSC, who are fifth on level points, AS Monaco (-1) and Stade Rennais (-3).
