According to L'Équipe, Maghreb FC, le blog de Nabil Djellit, has named its 4-2-3-1 Maghreb team of the season for 2025-26.
Yassine Bounou kept 20 clean sheets in 42 for Al Hilal. Achraf Hakimi remained peerless at right-back despite injuries and is Africa’s 2025 player of the year.
Aïssa Mandi, Lille fans’ player, led a Champions League return alongside the assured Montassar Talbi. Rayan Aït-Nouri’s first Manchester City season mixed fortunes, and Vladimir Petkovic uses him as a counter-attacking outlet for Algeria.
In midfield, Ayyoub Bouaddi, 18, chose Morocco and impressed for Lille, while Neil El Aynaoui rotated at AS Rome but excelled for Morocco at AFCON. Abde Ezzalzouli produced 28 matches, 9 goals and 9 assists in La Liga for Bétis Séville and is locked on Morocco’s left.
Ibrahim Maza, a rookie nominee at Bayer Leverkusen, shone as a 6, 8 or 10 for club and Algeria, earning “Mazadona”. Ilan Kebbal lit up the first half of the season for Paris FC, dipped after AFCON, then rallied, though Vladimir Petkovic does not seem to count on him amid fierce wing competition.
