Manchester City moved closer to securing the Premier League title with a dominant 3-0 victory over Brentford. Despite a frustrating first half, Pep Guardiola’s side eventually broke through thanks to a brilliant strike from Jeremy Doku. The win kept their hopes alive, as they sit just two points behind leaders Arsenal with three games left in the season.
Brentford made it difficult for Manchester City in the opening stages, holding firm defensively and denying any clear chances. However, it was the pace and determination of Jeremy Doku that ultimately broke the deadlock. After over an hour of build-up, Doku found space on the edge of the box and curled a sensational shot into the top corner. His goal opened the floodgates, and soon after, Erling Haaland added a second, giving City a comfortable lead.
Phil Foden nearly extended the advantage with a beautiful strike that narrowly missed the target, but it was Omar Marmoush who wrapped up the game, scoring a well-taken third goal to seal the win. City, having drawn 1-1 against Everton just days before, bounced back in style, keeping the pressure on Arsenal, who will face West Ham on Sunday.
While City’s attacking display stole the headlines, their defensive structure was equally impressive. Nathan Ake stepped in for the injured Abdukodir Khusanov and played an important role in neutralising Brentford’s forward line.
City’s midfield also functioned well, with players like Bernardo Silva and Reijnders providing the necessary energy and control. Silva, in particular, was quick to sense danger and maintain City’s defensive integrity.
