Man City are back in action on Wednesday night as they seek to bounce back from defeat to Aston Villa

Manchester City do not have long to dwell on their loss to Aston Villa.

Man City fell to a 1-0 defeat at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon as their nine-game unbeaten run came to an end thanks to Matty Cash’s 19th minute strike.

Pep Guardiola’s side pushed for an equaliser but were left frustrated with leading scorer Erling Haaland enduring a rare off day in front of goal.

Attentions now turn to the Carabao Cup and the fourth round tie away at Championship outfit Swansea as Man City will aim to bounce back from defeat at the earliest opportunity.

The good news for City is their injury list is easing ahead of the trip to Wales after Nico Gonzalez shook off a minor knock to appear as a second half substitute against Villa.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Man City injury news...

Rodri

Rodri had to be replaced after just 22 minutes against Brentford in Man City’s final fixture before the October international break and has not featured since.

The midfielder did not join up with the Spain national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria, before missing Man City’s games against Everton, Villarreal and Aston Villa.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Villa Park, Guardiola confirmed Rodri was not ready to make a return to action.

"The guys who were not able [to play] against Villareal are still not ready," the Spaniard said.

As a result, it remains to be seen when Rodri will be available for selection again as the club are cautious with regards to rushing him back after such a long time on the sidelines last season.

Potential return date: Unknown

Abdukodir Khusanov

Abdukodir Khusanov has not featured since being forced off at half-time in Man City’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal last month.

Initially, Guardiola said he expected the Uzbekistan international to miss three matches.

However, Khusanov has now missed the last seven games in succession and while a return is seemingly not too far away, no risks will be taken with the 21-year-old.

"I think he's close but he's still not ready from having an injury in a dangerous, dangerous position in his body,” Guardiola told reporters on Friday.
