Man City star leaves door open to Real Madrid | OneFootball

Manchester City star Rodri has early this week refused to close the door to a potential summer return to La Liga, with Real Madrid.

This comes as the Spanish international continues to be linked with a return to his home country.

Midfielder Rodri is of course fresh off something of a difficult campaign from an individual standpoint. Amid his recovery from a serious knee injury, the 29-year-old at times looked a shell of his once brilliant self.

Over the latter months of the season, though, Rodri showcased glimpses of his Ballon d’Or best, controlling entire games from his berth at the base of Man City’s engine room.

With the aforementioned Real Madrid known to be on the lookout for a midfield controller with a view to next season, fresh links between the parties have in turn come to the fore.

Speaking during an exchange with the media on Monday, Rodri himself was therefore questioned on a possible Bernabéu switch.

And the former Atlético Madrid man opted against shutting the speculation down, in explaining:

“It’s normal to see some links. My focus is on the World Cup now. We will see what happens after.”
