In a recent report, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City are in discussions to land Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer. However, the Mancunian club will only move in for the Italy international if Ederson leaves before the end of this transfer window.
The 26-year-old had a successful campaign at the French club recently as he was responsible for putting in a lot of impressive displays for them in Ligue 1. Donnarumma participated in 47 matches for PSG last season, conceding 43 goals and earning 17 clean sheets in all competitions.
The Italian keeper helped the French club win the UEFA Champions League trophy last season. However, he has fallen out of favour at PSG, which could open the door for Man City to land him this summer.
His current contract at Parc des Princes will expire at the end of next season. Thus, the Mancunian giants could potentially sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Donnarumma is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few crucial saves at the back for his team. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can use his strong 1.96m frame to command his penalty area with conviction.
However, the Italian sensation is far from convincing with the ball at his feet and could struggle to settle into the high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to bring him on board this summer. Still, there is no doubt that the PSG goalie has got the winning mindset to be a success story at the Mancunian club.
Donnarumma would add more quality to Pep Guardiola’s defence. He is more than capable of challenging James Trafford for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium this season. The Italian could even help the Premier League giants challenge for some major trophies soon.
At 26, Donnarumma has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Man City’s needs in this transfer period. He might even help the Mancunian club challenge for some major trophies over the next few years.
