Rayan Cherki continues to make headlines in England. Delivering a top-class performance during Manchester City's 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, the French attacking midfielder provided two assists for Erling Haaland, confirming his return to peak form after a thigh muscle injury. Having already scored and set up a goal against Swansea in the League Cup, the former Lyon man seems to have found his stride under Pep Guardiola’s management.

A gem still adapting

While he dazzled with his technical precision and creativity in the final third, Cherki also won over his coach. At the press conference, Guardiola did not hide his admiration:

"His vision of the game is exceptional, he dares, he tries things. That’s what I love. But he still needs to adapt to the Premier League tempo."

A statement that perfectly sums up the young player’s situation: brilliant with the ball at his feet, but still room for improvement in pressing and defensive discipline.

Signed last summer to inject energy into City’s attacking midfield, Rayan Cherki is gradually establishing himself as a credible option in the Manchester rotation. At just 22, he’s showing he can be much more than just a promising talent—he could become a true key piece in Guardiola’s attacking puzzle. If he manages to gain consistency, the former OL prodigy could soon lay claim to a starting spot in a squad where competition leaves no room for error. His return to form comes at just the right time, with a busy November ahead for Manchester City between the Premier League and Champions League.
