Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have joined the list of interested suitors when it comes to Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, according to reports.
City’s long-term planning in wide attacking areas continues to attract attention, particularly with the club embedded into a natural transition point in Pep Guardiola’s squad. The expiry of Bernardo Silva’s contract remains a key subplot, while the club continue to balance internal development with elite-level recruitment opportunities across Europe.
Manchester City’s admiration for high-profile attackers has been well documented in recent months, with German reports previously suggesting that the Premier League giants would be willing to spend up to €100 million on a winger, and the next summer market remains a focal point for decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium.
Internally, much depends on how Oscar Bobb develops over the course of the campaign and how much Savinho can be relied upon after the club issued the Brazilian with a bumper long-term contract having rejected approaches from Tottenham last summer.
As previously reported, City recruitment plans in this area of the pitch are directly tied to the Norwegian’s progression in particular, with further additions deemed unlikely should Bobb flourish as hoped.
But according to the information of journalist Christian Falk, Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise is on the list of ‘multiple’ European sides and beyond Real Madrid, with the report insisting that Manchester City can now be added into that equation.
From the side of Pep Guardiola, it is pointed out that the Catalan coach ‘would be very happy to get this deal done’. However, it is stressed that Bayern Munich are a ‘buyer’s club, not a seller’s club’ and will simply not sell a player if they do not want to sell.
That scenario firmly applies to the former Crystal Palace man, with Olise described as a player that Allianz Arena bosses ‘most certainly don’t want to sell’, with the winger also tied into a long-term contract with the Bundesliga giants – who are ‘already working hard’ on presenting an updated deal to him featuring more money and a one-year extension.
As such, the report concludes by insisting that at the moment, there is ‘no chance’ for the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and ‘many more’ when it comes to the future of Michael Olise.
While Olise is no doubt admired at the Etihad Stadium, there is certainly no urgency, particularly with Bayern Munich determined to retain him and already moving to strengthen his contractual position.
Looking ahead, Manchester City’s approach may hinge on developments elsewhere including Bernardo Silva’s future and Oscar Bobb’s development, rather than a direct push for Olise himself.
And even then, City could yet prioritise a move for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo sooner rather than later, given the Ghanaian’s attractive £65 million release clause becoming active in the first-half of the upcoming January market.
