Rodri and Erling Haaland didn’t play for Manchester City in their 3-1 win in the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie over Swansea earlier this week. Haaland was rested for the match after picking up a knock during City’s 1-nil defeat to Aston Villa last Sunday. Rodri had returned to training but wasn’t included in Manchester City’s matchday squad for the match in Wales.
Speaking ahead of his team’s important Premier League fixture against Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola has revealed that both players are fit and available for today’s match. That is excellent news for Manchester City in what looms as a tough match for City at the Etihad.
Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s important Premier League fixture against Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola was asked if Erling Haaland was fit to play against Bournemouth. He responded with “Yeah.” when asked if Haaland would play against Andoni Iraola’s side.
Pep Guardiola also revealed that Rodri is available for the match against Bournemouth. But Guardiola was unsure if Rodri would start at the Etihad. He explained: “I think he’ll be ready to help, I don’t know if from the beginning, but hopefully he can be with us. He’s been out a few times, and we know how important he is for us.”
The only player who appears to be in doubt for today’s match for Manchester City is Mateo Kovacic. When asked if the Croatian international was available for today’s game, Pep Guardiola said: “We will see.”
It is welcome news for Manchester City to have Erling Haaland and Rodri available for today’s match. City will need all hands on deck to contend with the threat that a quality Bournemouth side provides. Rodri and Haaland are two of City’s most important players so their availability will see City enter today’s match nearly at full strength.
