Manchester City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers today at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side enters today’s match after two disappointing defeats to Manchester United and Bodø/Glimt. The manner of those two defeats has been concerning. It is hoped that City can put those two losses behind them and get back on track today. City will face a Wolves side who sit bottom of the Premier League. However, they are unbeaten in their past four matches in the Premier League, and Rob Edwards’ side will be no pushover today.
Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of today’s match.
Manchester City enter today’s match with a host of players unavailable. John Stones, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Nico, Savinho and Oscar Bobb are all out of today’s match. Pep Guardiola told the media yesterday that it is unlikely that Matheus Nunes will play today due to a virus. Guardiola also shared that Savinho should be back in two to three weeks and that Nico could return for Manchester City’s upcoming Champions League fixture against Galatasaray.
In good news for Manchester City, Bernardo Silva and Antoine Semenyo are in line to return to the City starting lineup today. Bernardo Silva was suspended for Manchester City’s loss to Bodø/Glimt. Antoine Semenyo was ineligible to play in Norway. There should also be a Manchester City debut for Marc Guehi, whom City signed from Crystal Palace at the beginning of the week. Guehi should add tremendous experience and quality to a City defence that has struggled in their past two matches.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Donnarumma should start in goal for today’s match.
Rayan Ait-Nouri: With Matheus Nunes unlikely to play, I cannot see Rico Lewis starting at right-back. I believe Ait-Nouri will start there after showing signs of quality against Bodø/Glimt playing at right-back.
Abdukodir Khusanov: I can’t see Max Alleyne starting so I expect Abdukodir Khusanov to keep his place at centre-back.
Marc Guehi: The England international is a certainty to make his City debut today. He will have a vital role to play in City’s defence with his leadership, defensive acumen and ability in possession.
Nico O’Reilly: I feel that O’Reilly will resume his duties at left-back.
Rodri: I can’t see Rodri not starting today and hopefully he can put in a good performance for his own confidence and for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bernardo Silva: Manchester City missed Bernardo Silva’s presence against Bodø/Glimt. I expect City’s captain to return to the starting lineup today.
Rayan Cherki: Cherki was Manchester City’s best player in Norway. I feel that he deserves to start today’s match and he could be the game-breaker that his team needs.
Antoine Semenyo: Semenyo should start on the right-wing and he could be a crucial player for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Jeremy Doku: Doku missed Manchester City’s defeat at the Aspmyra Stadion. Provided that he is fully fit he should slot in on the left wing.
Erling Haaland: My first thoughts were that Omar Marmoush would start in Haaland’s place. Then I remembered Haaland’s fantastic scoring record against Wolves. Today could be the day for Haaland to snap into form so I expect him to start up front.
