In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester United are among the clubs hoping to land AZ Alkmaar prospect Kees Smit next year. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the race to sign the Dutch midfielder.

Smit’s Impressive Rise In Dutch Football

Smit has enjoyed a good run of form at the Dutch club this season as he has put in a handful of impressive performances for them in the middle of the park. The Dutch youngster has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 12 appearances for AZ Alkmaar during this campaign across various competitions.

The 19-year-old is currently among the best young midfielders in Dutch football. Hence, it is no surprise that Man United are among the clubs eager to sign him.

His current contract at the Eredivisie club will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Red Devils to snap him up on the cheap next year.

Manchester United Are In The Race For Smit: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Smit is a good tackler of the ball and usually works hard for his team defensively. He can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The Dutch starlet is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to sign him next year.

We can expect Smit to inject a lot of quality into Ruben Amorim’s midfield in the long run. He is already good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at Old Trafford.

At 19, the future looks quite bright for Smit as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the long run, so Man United should focus on going all out to bring him to Old Trafford this January or at the end of this campaign.
