Manchester United now have a list of three names as they look to strengthen their midfield.

The Red Devils missed out on Elliot Anderson, who completed a £116million move to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

They also look set to miss Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott, both of whom ranked highly on Michael Carrick’s wishlist of engine room recruits.

Scott, the Bournemouth playmaker, was the subject of a £64million from Chelsea, Standard Sport understands, while Tchouameni is reported to have agreed a new contract at Real Madrid.

Some at United still believe the Frenchman could leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but Fabrizio Romano reports that he is unlikely to move.

Wanted: Eduardo Camavinga

Carrick’s side were handed a boost in their pursuit of Scott when the England midfielder turned down a new contract on the Sussex coast, but the Cherries’ stance that he is not for sale at any price could prove a stumbling block.

As such, The Guardian claims that United now have a list of three other targets that they are looking at as they seek to add to the recent arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

One of those on the list is Manu Kone, the Roma man, who is also reportedly an Arsenal target.

Another is the man that Kone pipped in the France World Cup squad this summer, Eduardo Camavinga, whose future at Real Madrid is uncertain.

Sander Berge, the Norway international, completes the trio, with the Fulham man a long-term target for United.

It is believed that INEOS’ preference would be either Camavinga or Berge, but the former is thought to be keen to stay in Spain.

Reports in Spain claim that Jose Mourinho’s side would like to sell the Frenchman to make way for Rodri, who tops their own wishlist, with the Man City player out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next year.

L’Equipe claim that United have made an approach for Kone, meanwhile, while Corrierre dello Sport have gone one further and say that the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the player.
