Emiliano Martinez is open to a move to Manchester United this summer but there are no current talks between the club and Aston Villa.
Manchester United enquired into the availability of the goalkeeper in June, as the Red Devils consider signing a replacement for Andre Onana.
Onana’s hamstring injury has since cast doubt on a potential exit for the current number one. There had been interest from Saudi Pro League sides in the Cameroon international.
United held talks with Martinez’s representatives to gauge interest in a transfer, as Aston Villa contemplate a sale to improve their Premier League Profit and Sustainability status.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Martinez remains open to the transfer despite the absence of European football at Old Trafford next season.
However, there has been no formal approach to Aston Villa from Manchester United with no ‘club-to-club’ talks having taken place.
Progress on a potential move has not been made since last month’s enquiries, with United currently focused on other areas of the squad.
Ruben Amorim’s side are working on a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, after submitting an increased offer for the winger on Thursday. Focus is also on outgoings with a number of players exploring exit opportunities.
