Fernandes has been one of the best players in the English top-flight this term, but the Red Devils boss has been reluctant to promote the Portuguese’ player of the year chances in the press.

Carrick does not want to depict Man United as a one-man band, but the Premier League Player of the Month for March is expected to pick up individual accolades at the end of the campaign.

Fernandes is likely to make the PFA Team of the Year and should be nominated for a couple of Player of the Year awards given his individual performances so far this term.

The Red Devils skipper is desperate to get his team back into the Champions League, and three more victories should be enough to get them a spot in the elite European competition for next season.

Man United face Brentford, Liverpool, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion in their remaining games of 2025-26.

Fernandes will be eager to add more goals and assists to his name and the Red Devils owe him a better squad heading into next season.

The Portuguese is desperate to win the Premier League and Champions League, but the current Man United squad is not good enough to challenge for the major trophies.

The club reportedly aim to make four major signings in the summer, with two midfielders, an experienced striker and a left-back on their wishlist.

It remains to be seen if that is all they need to add to their current squad to boost their chances of winning major trophies, but they have to get it right in the next summer transfer window, and the right additions to the team could even make Fernandes a better player.
