Karl Darlow’s Leeds United future is under scrutiny, with outside interest that could force Daniel Farke into a fight to keep his first-choice goalkeeper. The 35-year-old’s contract expires this summer.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United are considering an approach for the Wales international. The same report added that Leeds want to keep him and are looking to offer fresh terms.
Darlow made 22 Premier League appearances last season after stepping in for Lucas Perri, steadying the side with a run of strong displays. He was nominated for save of the season and has established himself as Wales number one under Craig Bellamy.
United are believed to be seeking depth in goal, with Altay Bayindir, currently back-up to Senne Lammens, expected to leave. Darlow’s homegrown status could further appeal.
Asked about his goalkeepers in late April, with Illan Meslier and Alex Cairns also out of contract, Farke said he would only speak once everything was confirmed. He underlined his trust in Darlow, picking him through the run-in and praising both his performances and character.
He hinted supporters could read between the lines about where Darlow stands. Leeds have also tied down captain Ethan Ampadu to a new four-year contract.
