The RB Leipzig striker wants to move to Old Trafford, becoming the latest in a long line of transfer targets to reject a move to Newcastle this summer.

The Athletic's David Ornstein reports that Leipzig have accepted Newcastle's improved bid of €82.5m (£71.8m), plus a further €2.5m (£2.2m) in add-ons, but the striker has made clear his desire to join Man Utd.

Man Utd have offered less than Newcastle, having tabled a bid worth €75m (£65.10m) plus €10m (£8.7m), and as of early Wednesday morning had not seen an offer accepted.

But with Sesko informing Leipzig, Man Utd and Newcastle of his preferred destination, an agreement is now expected.

Sesko is set to become United’s third attacking signing of the summer, following the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and the £71m addition of Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim has also welcomed the signing of teenage left-back Diego Leon.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have now seen moves for Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Mbeumo fail, along with defensive targets Dean Huijsen and James Trafford.

Yoane Wissa remains keen to join, having told Brentford in on uncertain terms of his desire to leave, and Newcastle could reignite their interest after seeing a bid rejected last month.

Benjamin Sesko’s decision is bad news for Alexander Isak

London Standard

Sesko’s decision is expected to have an impact on Alexander Isak’s dream move to Liverpool.

Newcastle remain adamant that Isak will not be sold until at least one replacement is signed, with Sesko being the striker identified.

But Sesko’s rejection seemingly leaves Liverpool needing Newcastle to find a fresh target, as they agree a deal with Al Hilal to sell Darwin Nunez.
