Senne Lammens enjoyed perhaps his best match between the sticks for Manchester United against Everton.
United earned all three points in what was a dull affair in Merseyside, with Benjamin Sesko scoring the only goal of the night. However, it was Lammens’ heroic performance that paved the way for Sesko to register a winner to his name.
Everton won a staggering 10 corners and had twice as many shots on target as the visitors, but Lammens remained unfazed, keeping his third clean sheet in the last six matches.
The Belgian has shown enough to remain United’s number one, but a report in Italy suggests the Red Devils are keeping an eye on one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus are all interested in Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi.
No goalkeeper in Italy’s top division has kept more clean sheets than Carnesecchi (7), who has steadily become Atalanta’s most important asset with his major saves and commanding presence.
The six-foot-four-inch-tall goalkeeper’s current contract in Bergamo is due to expire in 2028.
It is understood Atalanta are aware of growing interest in the 25-year-old and want as much as €40 million to sanction his exit.
Carnesecchi was strongly linked with United in the summer as a replacement for Andre Onana.
Following Lammens’ arrival, Onana moved to Trabzonspor on a season-long loan. However, the Cameroonian is enduring catastrophic form in Turkey after a promising start.
His recent performances and high wages make the possibility of a permanent move to Trabzonspor more or less impossible.
As such, United’s focus in the summer would be on offloading both Onana and Altay Bayindir before reinforcing the goalkeeping department with a shot-stopper like Carnesecchi.
