Marco Silva has left Fulham, with the London club confirming his departure and the Portuguese coach close to taking over at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, he published a farewell message to supporters soon after the announcement.
In his note on the club’s website, Silva thanked fans for standing by the team over five years. He said he and his staff always felt that backing, that Fulham will remain in his heart, and that he will return to Craven Cottage sooner or later.
Owner Shahid Khan paid tribute to Silva’s work, describing a strong partnership across five seasons and saying change is part of the sport. He added that Fulham will appoint a new head coach soon, with a timely but considered process to meet the club’s standards and supporters’ expectations.
Silva travelled to London to tell the hierarchy he would not accept a renewal offer. With Benfica contract details already set, he chose to close his chapter in England in person.
A move to the Estádio da Luz would bring Silva back to Portuguese football for the first time since 2015, when he left Sporting. He has since managed Olympiacos, Hull City, Watford, Everton and Fulham.
