Marshall has chance to be number one under Nuno | OneFootball

Calum Marshall appears to be set for his biggest chance to make his mark on the senior stage at West Ham.

The Northern Ireland international, who last season impressed whilst on loan at Huddersfield in the Championship, is currently seen as the club 3rd choice striker – behind Niclas Fullkrug and Callum Wilson.

Despite the experience ahead of him, the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo is paving the way for Marshall (and others) to staking their claim and becoming senior players at West Ham.

During the loss to title chasing Arsenal last weekend, Nuno opted to bring on both Marshall and follow Academy star Freddie Potts on the hour mark – showcasing a clear level of trust in the players who are eager to impress.

It’s also becoming more clear that Nuno isn’t fancying Callum Wilson too much, whilst the form of Fullkrug has many calling for the German to be dropped.

With January some way off, this is a huge opportunity for Marshall, who will be keen to show that the answer to the clubs striker woes may well be under their nose.
