Manchester City will take on their penultimate home game of the 2025/26 Premier League season on Wednesday night as Crystal Palace visit the North-West.
Oliver Glasner’s players will almost certainly have one eye on their UEFA Europa Conference League clash at the end of the season, but will be conscious of maintaining momentum until their showpiece European final.
As for Manchester City, they will retain a glimmer of hope in the Premier League title race and will want to defeat the Eagles to keep that hope alive, albeit despite Arsenal’s crucial 0-1 win at West Ham on Sunday evening.
That victory for the Gunners moved them five points clear of City having played a game more, with just a home clash against a relegated Burnley remaining, and a trip to Crystal Palace in the game that precedes Glasner’s Conference League final.
Pep Guardiola could look to rotate his options for the meeting with Crystal Palace this week, conscious of the upcoming FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, as they aim to make it a domestic double in the ongoing season.
And ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Crystal Palace, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!
The Premier League have this week confirmed that Stuart Attwell has been appointed into the role of match referee for the meeting between Manchester City and Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.
The weekend will mark Attwell’s 28th match across all competitions so far this season, having worked on the Premier League, UEFA Conference League qualification, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and international friendlies.
Across his 27 fixtures to date, Attwell has issued a total of 122 yellow cards, one second yellow card dismissal, two straight red cards, and awarding 10 penalty kicks in the process.
The 43-year-old has come across Manchester City on 25 previous occasions, with the Sky Blues emerging victorious in 17 of those such meetings, recording two draws, and six defeats, receiving 42 yellow cards from Attwell, three straight red cards, and five penalties.
Stuart Attwell and Manchester City have only met on one occasion this season, however, with that meeting being the mammoth Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium and the 1-1 draw with Arsenal back in late September.
Supporting Stuart Attwell on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night will be Constantine Hatzidakis and Blake Antrobus, appointed into the roles of assistant referees for the contest.
Overseeing proceedings from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park on Wednesday night will be Video Assistant referee, John Brooks, supported by Assistant Video Assistant referee, Dan Robathan.
Standing between the two dugouts and retaining order between Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner will be referee Paul Tierney, standing in the role of fourth official for the contest.
